Excerpts

There Was A Time

.
When your words, etched
on ornate glass panes with
beveled edges and arranged
in delicate placement around
the center of my longing
gleamed, untouched by oily fingers or
stale breath, fogging the beautiful,
painstakingly carved elegance only
your artist's mind could create for me.
.
That time came and went.
.
Now,
the once intricate love that encased
all I was to you has shattered into
pieces too small to gather and mend.
.
Glass is so temporary!
.
Perhaps, had you engraved that love onto steel
and bolted it down around me its strength
would have held what I was to you once
past forever.
